In a significant move towards gender equality and technological advancement, Huawei Technologies, a global leader in information and communications technology solutions, has teamed up with the National Council for Women (NCW) to launch the groundbreaking “Women in Technology” initiative. Technology for Her: This program offers specialized training and certification from Huawei in collaboration with the NCW. It targets women looking to acquire new skills rapidly.
Technology with Her: Through this program, selected trainees will be equipped with training and certification by Huawei, which they can then use to encourage and mentor other women interested in ICT careers.
Technology by Her: This program empowers women to proactively pursue training opportunities and ICT job prospects. It aims to significantly boost the representation of women in the digital economy.

MaBen, board member and Managing Director of the Public Affairs and Communication Department at Huawei Egypt, emphasized the company’s commitment to rapid skills development for women. He highlighted the initiative’s role in supporting digital transformation, expanding job prospects for women in the communication and IT sector, and encouraging their active participation in the digital economy.
NCW’s Vision for Empowering Women in ICT
Maya Morsy, Chairperson of the NCW, expressed her enthusiasm for partnering with Huawei, a renowned leader in information and communications technology. She praised Huawei’s support for this groundbreaking initiative, which is the first of its kind. Morsy underscored the significance of empowering women in Egypt’s ICT sector, aligning it with the National Strategy for Empowering Egyptian Women 2030. She expressed hope that the initiative would reach women across different regions, shedding light on the numerous technological opportunities available and offering awareness campaigns, training, and digital skills development.
Preparing for the Future: Huawei ICT Academy Egypt
Asmaa Serageldin, Executive Director of Huawei ICT Academy Egypt, emphasized that the initiative’s goal is to provide comprehensive online training opportunities for women and girls from all corners of Egypt. This training will prepare them to excel in modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and cloud computing, opening doors to a multitude of career possibilities. The cooperative effort aims to train 2,000 women throughout the country over the next two years, ensuring that they are well-prepared to thrive in the evolving tech landscape.
Rapid Uptake and Ongoing Training
Angy El Yamany, Director of the Financial Inclusion National Program at NCW, reported that the response to the initiative has been overwhelming. In just two weeks after its launch, over 1,700 women received training from certified trainers at Huawei Academies, with more than 200 women being trained. Training continues with the aim of empowering an even larger number of promising girls in the technology field.

A MoU was signed between Huawei and the NCW to donate 100 laptops to facilitate training areas.
