Cisco has added new UCS servers based on Intel’s most recent generation CPUs to its Unified Computing System family, enhancing the power and sustainability characteristics.

Cisco has unveiled two new, high-end X Series servers based on 4th Generation Xeon Scalable processors: the four-socket UCS X410c M7 and the two-socket UCS X 210 M7 servers. The 1U UCS C220 and the 2U UCS C240, two less potent C Series rack servers, are also being introduced.

To serve compute-intensive applications, Cisco will also integrate Intel Data Center GPU Series processors into its UCS X-Series Fabric technology.

The overarching Intersight cloud-management solution, which supports virtualized, containerized, and bare-metal workloads as well as Kubernetes container-native virtualization, controls and manages Cisco’s server infrastructure.

Due to the new processors’ increased performance and improved energy efficiency, fewer systems are required to do the same job while consuming less power than earlier generations. According to Sivakumar, in some instances, this entails a reduction in the number of systems needed by nearly three-quarters while consuming 31% less energy than current versions.

This quarter will see the introduction of Cisco’s new servers.
